I have never known a time that I didn't love everything about horses. At 14 I bought my first horse, Triback, with babysitting money. I didn't like babysitting nor was I very good but I was determined to earn money to buy a horse. I worked several jobs though high school to contribute in any way I could as my I was raised by an entrepreneurial and single mother and money didn't stretch far. An avid equestrian from the start, I showed in the Hunters, Equitation, and Medals as a Junior and my nickname was Cinderella as I braided all the "rich" kids' horses before I tended my own then showed bleary eyed but proud. In 1994, during my university years, I became certified with Equine Canada as a Level 1 (now Competition Coach). My husband and I moved to California in 2001 for graduate school and I returned to amateur status and showed in the jumper ring and started breeding horses at our farm there in 2006. With our young children we moved back to BC in 2011 and built and renovated Footnote Farm in Langley. In 2014 we started offering boarding and in 2019, finally, my dream was realized of offering horse riding lessons at my own facility.
It is so very important to me that students are taught correctly down to every detail but that they are also supported to go in any direction that they desire in the pursuit of furthering his or her horsemanship and horse training.
Today, I now ride with my family and enjoy trail riding vacations and watching my children learn to ride. I do still love to compete but now I love Cowboy Challenges, Mountain and Obstacle Trail, and Combined Driving.
